Hi all,

First of all thank you for taking the time to read my fundraising page.

On the 8th of May 2022 I will be taking part in a 'nuclear obstacle race' for Safer Places, a domestic abuse charity that supports children and adults that are victims/survivors of domestic abuse.

Safer Places empowers survivors by providing knowledge and by helping to increase their confidence to take positive steps during their recovery. The recovery after experiencing abuse is not an easy one. It can take a lot of time to feel safe again. A survivors confidence and self esteem is often shattered and it can be difficult to see a way of getting back to 'feeling like you'. Building up the ability to trust others again can often seem impossible. There will be feelings of isolation and loneliness as it can be hard to talk about what has happened. Friends and family around the survivor can often find it difficult to learn about the impact of the abuse on their loved one. This is why awareness of domestic abuse and its impact is important. Safer Places helps to raise this awareness and also supports survivors during the process. On their website there are some survivors stories and a section called 'hear me' that provides a voice to those previously silenced if you are interested in finding out more about the impact of domestic abuse.

Raising money for a cause that I have connections to personally and on a professional level would really mean the world to me! It also seems like a great opportunity to challenge and push myself.

I would be extremely grateful if you could help me to fundraise some money for a cause that is more widespread then you think.

Thank you :)
