About the Role:

Safer Places is looking for a freelance qualified and experienced practitioner to provide individual and group supervision to staff working with victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse and stalking. The ability to foster trauma informed and trauma responsive practice across the organisation is key to the role. You will be trained and have experience in systemic practice and trauma and use your knowledge and skills, to support non-clinical practitioners in their role. If you have some experience with trauma work and are willing to continue CPD in this field we will consider your application.


As a Clinical Supervisor you will:

Provide individual and group supervision to front line practitioners and their managers to support their thinking and practice.


Support Safer Places on their journey to become trauma informed and trauma responsive and providing expertise around evidence-based practice in the field.

Support the Senior Safeguarding and Wellbeing Manager to review and update the clinical supervision policy, procedures and processes, as required.

Work with colleagues to develop staff well-being.

About You:

 To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (Level 5 two-year diploma minimum)
  • A Level 6 certificate in counselling supervision or equivalent
  • BACP / UKCP registered or equivalent
  • Significant recent reflective clinical supervision (group and individual) experience with a background in systemic practice and trauma.
  • The ability to provide high quality clinical supervision to individuals and groups, including facilitating reflective practice group sessions
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices
  • Knowledge of how trauma, abuse, violence, exploitation impacts on adults and children and young people
  • Knowledge of how vicarious trauma, secondary trauma and burnout affects front line workers and interventions that can support with this
  • An enhanced DBS check is required


The successful applicant will agree to abide by Safer Places’ governance processes in terms of confidentiality, safeguarding and GDPR. This work will commence in June/July 2021 and the continuation of the role will be reviewed based on the Safer Places’ satisfaction with work.

 Self-Employed status not Employee you will be responsible of your own tax affairs and liability insurance

 Hours: 12-14 hours a month

 Location: Remote working or at our COVID secure sites in Essex or Hertfordshire. 

 Rate: £65 p/h
