How long is the training session?

This training session is a full day - 6 hours, 10am - 4.30pm.

What will I learn?

At the end of this training session you will be able to:

  • Consider the different forms of violence and abuse and how they interrelate
  • To name and talk about the acts that are perpetrated against victims to enable participants to recognise and describe domestic violence/abuse 
  • To dispel myths and stereotypes that prevail about domestic abuse/violence 
  • To define domestic violence 
  • To show extent of domestic violence and abuse 
  • To understand the complexities of why victims find it difficult to leave 
  • To understand Intimate Partner Violence Typologies
  • To understand the risk levels in domestic abuse, including the high-risk factors
  • To understand what MARAC/MAPPA is
  • Understand how to safety plan with a victim of domestic abuse
  • Understand the domestic abuse legislation and Interventions (civil and criminal)
  • To understand how to respond to disclosures of abuse and responsibilities and limits regarding information sharing
