I was referred to Safer Places by the Police. Straight away the advocate called me and was very caring. She spent so much time on the phone with me to understand my situation and gave me the emotional support I needed.

She called me on a regular basis, was very knowledgeable, and gave me insight into how perpetrators behave and that it was normal for me to be feeling the way I was. She arranged for security measures to be put in place including for my front door key to be changed.

The stalking continued for months. I was receiving a letter nearly every day so my advocate arranged for a cover to be put on the inside of my letterbox so that no letters could be dropped in.

I was introduced to Triple R courses at Safer Places which I logged into on a weekly basis and was enlightened further about self-awareness, self-care, and the support that was available.

I was also directed to a solicitor to help take things forward officially but as I had exams to take at that time, I didn’t feel I could deal with the police and courts as well.

The stalking has stopped no and things have been quiet so I hope I will not need these services again, but I do not know what I would have done without Safer Places and especially my advocate who became my lifeline during this awful experience.

The support and services delivered to me by the advocate were excellent it was oxygen for me when I felt I was suffocating.
