The Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour Based Violence Risk Identification, Assessment and Management Model was implemented across all police services in the UK from March 2009. The DASH is a multi-agency tool used by most agencies with a focus on keeping victims and their children safe and ensuring perpetrators are proactively identified and managed. The DASH is pioneering and innovative, turning a reactive ‘it’s just a domestic’ into a proactive ‘you must ask’ questions approach. Read more
Advanced domestic abuse CPD accredited masterclass covers what domestic abuse is and the myths surrounding domestic abuse, but also goes into more details on types of domestic abuse, different types of perpetrators, trauma informed practice and risk and safety planning. After the training, learners will be able recognise different forms of domestic abuse and will be able to identify risk and create safety plans. Read more
Safety and support planning is one of the most important things that we can do with survivors. This training session will give you an understanding of how to safety plan within a community response model, understand the roles of MARAC and MAPPA, and how to respond to a survivor in an emergency situation. Sexual violence affects millions of people every year. 5 in 6 women and 4 in 5 men who are raped do not report the crime to the police. This CPD accredited training session will increase learners understanding of what sexual violence is, what it looks like, and how to respond to it and refer to specialist agencies. The course will also explore the myths and misconceptions around sexual violence, and how societal messages impact on survivors, and the support they receive. Read more
It is a myth that the majority of stalkers are strangers lurking in alleys or they are celebrity obsessed fans. In fact, most of the stalking is perpetrated by someone who knows the victim, usually an ex-partner. This CPD accredited training session will give learners an understanding of stalking behaviours, perpetrator's typologies and motivation, the impact of stalking upon the victim and how to best support victims of stalking. As new technologies and social media platforms are created, they also begin to be used as a monitoring or harassment tool by abusers. This CPD accredited training session will help learners to understand how abusers use technology to perpetrate abuse, the risk this poses to survivors and how to effectively safety plan against these methods of abuse. Children who are not 'directly abused' are often incorrectly perceived as 'witnesses' of the abuse of their mothers, fathers, or other family members. Our training provides a new perspective on stereotypical views of children as passive victims. This CPD accredited training will give you understanding of how children are not only bystanders, but how their experiences of domestic abuse and coercive control may lead to the lasting psychological, emotional, physical and social effects. Our training discusses the biggest taboo in domestic abuse – violence of children and young people towards their parents, carers and siblings. CAPVA is one of the most under-researched and underreported types of abuse and this CPD accredited training will shine more light onto the topic. This CPD accredited training session will give learners an insight into the prevalence and distinct nature of domestic abuse affecting young people in their own intimate relationships. This training course will increase learners' awareness and understanding on how victims from the Gypsy, Roma and Travelling communities experience domestic abuse and how to recognise, respond appropriately and refer onto specialist agencies. Older victims are often invisible from domestic abuse services. Older people are at an increased risk of experiencing abuse from family members and are most likely to experience economic abuse. This course will give learners an insight into the prevalence and distinct nature of domestic abuse affecting older people. The course will increase learners confidence in recognising the signs of domestic abuse affecting older people and responding appropriately. Read more
J9 is named in memory of Janine Mundy, a mother of two, killed by her estranged husband in June 2003 whilst on police bail. This awareness raising course will give you the skills to recognise abuse and the confidence to respond to survivors, opening the door to safety and support. At the end of the course you can display the J9 logo so survivors know they have a safe space to get help. Read more
